Recently, I've delved into dancing as a delightful pastime that fills me with joy, boosts my mood, and provides a refreshing mental break. At the moment, I'm all about perfecting the moonwalk.

How did you get started in CRE and why? Does it differ from your reasons for remaining in CRE?

Discovering my affinity for shaping commercial spaces, I found immense satisfaction in the impact these spaces had on communities. As I advanced in my career, my appreciation for the field deepened. While initially focused on the user experience within spaces, my perspective broadened to encompass the global impact of design. I now understand that every aspect of design, from material sourcing to labor practices, from energy consumption to embodied energy, plays a crucial role in shaping our world. The opportunity for learning and doing better in this field is limitless.

Describe a key piece of advice you received during your career, and how it impacted you.

A thoughtful manager noticed my tendency to work late and put in excessive overtime. Sensing the imbalance, she took me aside and offered invaluable advice. She essentially told me to "chill out" and emphasized the importance of work-life balance, encouraged me to prioritize personal well-being, and taught me the power of setting boundaries by learning to ask for help when needed. Taking her advice to heart, I made a conscious effort to recalibrate my priorities. As a result, I found greater fulfillment both personally and professionally, without ever feeling like I am missing out on any opportunities.

CREWNY has been crucial in introducing me to a diverse and highly valuable network of women professionals, a connection that would have been difficult to cultivate on my own. As my professional responsibilities now include more aspects of the business, with a focus on generating new opportunities, I've encountered a significant learning curve.
