I enjoy outdoor activities, especially golfing and snowboarding. I regularly follow snow forecasts and powder chase when schedule allows. There is a CREW golf outing at Chelsea Piers on May 4th that I am looking forward to and meeting other CREW women who golf.

What are some of the tools in your skill-set which have been critical to you in your career?
Being positive and looking for solutions when facing problems are key to driving my business forward. Positivity leads to creativity as you are focused in finding out "what else is possible?" to look for solutions. As a selling broker, I hear many “no’s” as to why a deal is not a fit for buyers, but brokers only need one to say “yes.” It is easy to feel defeated when facing rejection, but I choose to focus on finding the right buyer for every property I sell. When generating business, I focus on how I can utilize my strengths to succeed.

What is a big risk you have taken, and how did it work out?
I started my business in 2009 at the start of the Great Recession as transactions ground to a halt for several months, and working for a firm was no longer economically feasible. I did not have a long term plan and only knew at the time that I had to work for myself. After quickly registering a company name and create simple marketing materials, KELCO Investments was open for business. I finally closed my first deal after nine months. It remains one of the most rewarding feelings I have ever felt, and a sense of solidity in officially being in control of your own destiny is truly priceless.

Tell us about an accomplishment you are proud of.
I learned to snowboard as an adult a couple of years ago. Besides the appeal of snowboarding itself, I resolved to learn this sport to challenge myself in overcoming my fear of heights, build confidence, and to manifest fearlessness. These are qualities that have directly translated to strengthening my business skills. It has helped me be more assertive during negotiations and confident when generating business.
